Fire Conditions |
|
|
Because of the dry conditions, summer fire season has been brought forward. As from 1st September, we are under summer fire restrictions. It is necessary to contact our Captain, Rod Simpson, for a permit before burning off paddocks or lighting bonfires in the open. Before conducting any hazard reduction burn over an area, it is necessary to first obtain a certificate from your appropriate Fire Control before applying for the permit. Recent experience has shown that, even with the best management, a control burn can get away under current conditions, so extreme caution and preparation are necessary. A few prayers for good spring rain might help too. If you see a fire, ring 000 for general emergency or 0418 303 232 for the Sutton duty officer.
