Meet the Brigade (2)
Behind the most senior firemen, there are of course women who keep things organised and under control.
Secretary Vikki Bingley is an active member of the firefighting team, as well as a spirited organiser of all aspects of the work of the brigade. She has been doing both these jobs for some years now, and has become one of the stalwarts. She doesn't seem to stand in front of a camera very often, so apart from the infamous pink bridesmaid's dress shot, this is the best we can do.
Di Treasurer Di Stoll has been guarding the purse strings of the brigade for over a decade, ensuring good economic management. Di was one of the first women to undergo Basic Training in our brigade and her whole family are active with us. Di is a living archive of useful knowledge which you don't find in books, like how much butter you need for 20 loaves of bread and stuff like that. She really runs the whole show, you know.
Then there are the people who help the bosses keep things ticking along.
Brendan Vice President Brendan Haverfield has been an active member for a number of years. He not only puts out fires, he can build fire shed extensions and lay vinyl tiles. In fact, he has recently transformed our working space at the fire station, making it all look very professional up there. Brendan looks a trifle anxious and wobbly in this shot because he had just got out of a helicopter. His head is not properly framed in the picture because the photographer had just got out of a helicopter.
Eddy Training Officer and Deputy Captain Eddy Tillotson was the first teenaged Sutton recruit to sport a waist length pony tail, 10 earrings and tattoos. Now that he is a respectable family man he looks a little less colourful. His enthusiasm for Field Day competitions and for recruiting have got him into the training area. He is also the brigade's official photographer and most of the pictures on this site were taken by him (but not this one).
